                            Did you know??

Donations made to national humane organizations like HSUS, ASPCA and others aren't shared on a local level with organizations like ours. Although these national groups do important work, please keep local organizations in mind when planning your annual donations!

What are Walton Animal Guild's goals?

Simply put, to end euthanasia of healthy adoptable animals in our local shelter. But that one goal requires action on many levels.

  • Spay/neuter programs lower the number of unwanted pets born and turned into shelters each year.
  • Owner support programs like the pet food pantry help pets stay in their homes during tough economic times.
  • Education spreads messages of care and humane treatment of pets, promoting compassion and empathy.
  • Rescue and adoption gives homeless pets another chance at love and life.

Why should I donate?

Like other humane and rescue groups, Walton Animal Guild, Inc.
depends entirely on the generosity of donations from contributors and supporters.  We are a volunteer-driven organization with no paid staff or overhead expenses - every dollar goes to our programs supporting pets and the people who care for them.

Not everyone has the time or ability to offer hands-on help. By donating, you become part of our important local support system. Don't wait until you can make large donations. Even $20 - the cost of a pizza dinner - makes a huge difference in the life of a homeless pet.
How is my money spent?

Funding is directed primarily toward the two most critical programs - rescue and spay/neuter. In our so-called Litter Prevention program, WAG offers subsidized spay/neuter for pets of low-income owners and periodic promotional programs like "Free Mama" spays or "Beat the Heat."

Rescue/adoption expenses cover standard medical care to animals taken from the Walton County shelter. Dogs and cats also receive diagnostic testing and other medications or procedures necessary to improve their lives - i.e. diagnostic testing, heartworm treatments, or emergency surgeries.

We also invest in educational materials such as brochures, flyers and other printed information and sponsor several large adoption events each year.

Better yet, WAG dollars are spent locally at veterinary clinics, feed stores, and other service providers, further supporting our community.

We make every effort to use donations wisely. In fact, by utilizing sponsors and event-specific donations, we've never lost money on an event or fundraiser, even in a challenging economy.
