Every spring hundreds of puppies are born in Walton County - most are from unplanned pet pregnancies from unspayed females.
The outcome is predictable. Vet care is expensive, so the mother or pups often go without vaccinations or deworming. After six weeks, well-meaning pet owners give away "free" puppies to new home. Unfortunately some of those unvaccinated puppies may get sick and only 50% will be spayed or neutered by their new owners. Some will even go on to have their own puppies. And the cycle continues.
There's a better way! Walton Animal Guild's Puppy Prevention Program supports pet owners by finding qualified homes for the puppies and paying to spay the mother dog. Working together, we can help end pet overpopulation!
